Grammar help

Can anyone here name the rule which governs why the bolded word in these sentences should be singular?

Species of bird.

Types of house.

Breeds of dog.

I can explain why this is the case, but I can't pin down the right language to look this up in a style manual (specifically CMS). Can anyone help?

[Edit] According to the Oxford Dictionary of English Grammar, this is a partitive, however CMS doesn't use this term.
